Brotzman History

JACOB HEINRICH BROTZMAN born 27 December 1722 in Germany died: 13 October 1803 in Northampton Co., PA. "Heinrich" appears only on ship's list and in death record. Jacob became naturalized in April 1762 at Philadelphia, taking oath to the Crown and receiving the Sacraments of the Church of England. Jacob settled along the Lehigh River near Smith's Island. He married Maria Margaretha Ficen (Fox) and had nine children: Elizabeth (abt. 1753),John (1751), Maria Barbara (1754), Eva Catherine (1757), Philip Jacob (1759), Susanna (1761, Abraham (1763), Anna Christina (1769), and Rosina (1773). Jacob married a second time to Anna Maria (Mary) and had two children: Margaretha (1781), and Peter (1784).

MARIA BARBARA BROTZMAN born: 24 August 1725 in Germany died: USA. She married a Paul Reiser and they had two children: Maria Barbara Reiser (1747) and Susanna Reiser (1763). Little is known of this family at present.

GEORGE ADAM BR0TZMAN born: 25 August 1725 in Germany died: 3 June 1815 PA. He became naturalized in April 1762 in Philadelphia taking the oath of the Crown and receiving the Sacraments of the Church of England. The name changed about 1804 to Prutzman. The Trappe records spell it Protsman. George married Anna Martha Sahler aka Hannah Sahlerin who was born in Germany 1731 and died 1787/8. George married a second time to Catherine Schneider.George and Anna Martha had ten children: Maria Magdalena (1751), Johannes (1752, Jacob (1752), David
(abt 1754, William (abt 1756),Elizabeth (abt 1758), Johannes Frederick (1760), Hannah (abt 1762),
Adam (1764), and Mary (abt 1766). He is buried in Trappe, PA.

JOHAN FREDERICK BROTZMAN born 13 march 1731 in Germany died: USA. He married and had 1 known child, Jacob. John settled around Plainfield Twp. His son around Forks Twp., Northampton Co., PA. later descendants
were found in NJ and Easton, PA areas.

GEORGE CHRISTIAN BROTZMAN born: 4 May 1734 in Germany died: 1817 Reading, PA. George married Mary Fichthorn and a second marriage to Anna Maria Berend. George and Mary were parents to seven children.
When Mary died (1783) there was a child age three months, 2 weeks 3 days.George and Anna Maria had two children: Andreas/Andrew (1791), and Margradalia (1792). The family settled around Reading, PA and in NJ.

JOHAN KONRAD BROTZMAN born: 5 May 1737 in Germany, arrived in America in 1750. Johan married (1) Anna Kunigunde Eashbach and had two daughters: Anna Magdalena (1757 and Anna Maria (1761) He married:(2)Barbara and had a family of four children: Anna (1767), Johan Peter (1771), Johann Michael (1773), and Conrad. The family settled in Montgomery Co., PA.

JOHN BROTZMAN the first child to be born in USA (abt 1740) married and had 2 known children: John (1763), and Jacob (1776) Resided in Bucks Co., PA.and NJ. Later migrated west to KY, OH and settled in IN. The family and descendants became politically involved and quite influential in the community. John and Jacob also settled in IN.

NICHOLAS BROTZMAN the last child born in USA married Gertrude Hertzell and raised a family of eight children: Anna Maria (abt 1767), George Heinrich (1768), Catherine (1770), Jacob (1773), Nicholas (1777), John Frederick (1780), and John Adam (1782). Nicholas along with his sons, Nicholas, John Adam and Jacob left the Northampton Co., area and moved to Tioga Co., PA.where Nicholas later died. His wife remained in Northampton Co. Many descendants remain in the Steuben Co., NY and Tioga Co., PA. while still others migrated to Wayne Co, OH.
